Greenville Middle School
Congratulations
to Janine Connolly for coming up with the idea of Friday Night Lights, instead of
Saturday school to help students catch up on late work.
The idea is time efficient for all involved. Great Job Janine!
GMS and HMS
Tuesday, May
20 students from Hortonville Middle School and Greenville Middle School traveled
to Manawa to participate in the Academic Quiz Bowl.
Students from HMS who participated were Erik Roe, Peter
Tenpas, Mike Darling, Alex Tetzloff, Kate Ubl and Trevor Carter.
Our sub was Meg Tetzloff from HMS.
The GMS students participating were Max Wilson and Joe Dewar.
Max and Joe were joined by Kate Ubl and Trevor Carter from HMS to complete
one team. All the students did
an outstanding job in the competition with nine other teams from Manawa, Shiocton,
and Weyawaga-Fremont. The HMS team
of Alex, Erik, Peter and Mike took the overall first place amassing over 380 points! Our team from HMS/GMS, Max, Joe, Kate
and Trevor placed a resounding fifth in the competition.
We can truly be proud of our fine young academic students.
Their knowledge goes way beyond their years and I feel very privileged as
their coach and teacher to work with these fine young people.
FANTASTIC!
Hortonville Elementary School
Math club students
at Hortonville Elementary presented their board games and power point slide shows
to the school on the morning of May 21st.
The power points and games were very professionally done, the students were justifiably
proud, and the general student body was excited to interact with the presenters. Some of the projects were worthy of
marketing professionally. Special recognition
is due to Marcia Dunathan, Lisa Ales, Jim Johnson, and Matt Craemer for their work
with the Math Club in providing leadership, generating enthusiasm, and in their
efforts to organize the the Math Morning activity.
Congratulations to each of them and thank you to all staff who contributed
time and talent for various math club activities this year.
HASD
I would like
to thank Milo Lemke for all the time and care he puts into keeping the green space
around our schools looking good. This is a huge task for 1 man. I also would like
thank him for the condition of our sports fields. The football field is one of the
finest playing surfaces in the area and I'm sure Milo will show the same care in
the soon to be seeded soccer field. Your long hours do not go unnoticed. THANKS
YOU MILO!
Hortonville High School
As the mentoring
program winds down, there are a certain number of students that need special recognition
for going above and beyond the call in mentoring other students. Sometimes it was
only a day or two to give that extra help
on a certain concept or problem. Other times, as in the case of Emily Gibbons who
has been working with a student 2 days a week since early November hours,
it is a long term situation.
Nathan Barth has spent several hours after school
helping two students at
the elementary school. He has also worked with at least 8 students in the high school. Both Emily and Nathan completed over
60 hours of mentoring!
Other outstanding mentors are: Erika
Kaczmarzyk --- over
50 hours. Michael VanDyke, Breanna Priest, Kaylie Kuhnke, Mandi
Hockers and Paige Prince --- over 40 hours.
Colissa Erickson, Miranda Diedrich,
Gretta Ploch ---over 30 hours. We had close to 60 students that volunteered
their time mentoring! A huge than you
to all of them!
Greenville Elementary School
