Teachers,
This quest was created as fact finding mission for our 6th grade social studies students as they study Mexico. Information in text books is never as current as we'd like so we thought this would be the best way for students to learn about Mexico as it is today. It might be obvious that we are also working on the communication skill putting information into complete thoughts and organizing it into an easy to an follow format.
Even though students are being directed to specific web sites, as an introduction to this activity, I'd suggest spending some time discussing reliability of sites. There is a lot of information out there that may or may not be accurate.
The information gained could easily be taken to a higher level by asking students to write persuasive or comparative essays. They might be put in charge of writing a speech for that political candidate or be put in the position of representing the candidate in a debate.
Good luck and have fun.
