Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

If your child is in 2nd ~ 4th grade, I see him/her for a half-hour every other day, and every other Friday for Spanish.  If your child is in 5th grade, I see him/her for 30 minutes every other day for Spanish.   We will have very little homework because we practice and review during each class period.

Grading will be based on the following:  30% participation, 30% effort, and 40% skills.  The Hortonville Area School District grading scale is as follows:

97-100 A+
93-96 A
90-92 A-
87-89 B+
83-86 B
80-82 B-
77-79 C+
73-76 C
70-72 C-
67-69 D+
63-66 D
60-62 D-
0-59 F

The classroom rules include:
1. Respect everyone (and property too).
2.  Raise your hand to speak.
3.  Speak Spanish as much as possible.

In each grade level, we will be reviewing information from the previous year and new topics will also be introduced.  Here is a brief outline of some of the main topics that are likely to be covered at each grade level:

2nd: colors, numbers, greetings, short conversational questions and answers, family, the five senses, rainforest

3rd:  the calendar, food and nutrition, autobiographies, astronomy

4th: clothing, home, daily routines, transportation

5th:  Día de los Muertos, map skills, México (culture/traditions), sports
