Due to recent changes in Open Enrollment requirements from the Department of Public Instruction, on February 27, 2012, the HASD Board of Education approved revisions to Policy #5065-Open Enrollment. 

There are several changes to the policy in accordance with the new requirements.  Some of them include:

• Nonresident students may be denied a regular education or special education student request if space is not available for the student according to the class sizes determined by the school board. 
• If there are more applications than spaces, students will be randomly selected, after giving preference to students already attending school in the nonresident schools and siblings of currently- attending students.
• If accepted, students will be assigned to one of the district’s elementary or middle schools.  There is no choice of a specific school to attend by the parent.
• Waiting lists will be established in those classes where space is not available.
