Lebkuchen Tradition
Gingerbread has been a part of German culture for a long time. For centuries, gingerbread has been an important staple in markets throughout Germany. Gingerbread is not just a Christmas tradition in Germany; many German festivals, including Oktoberfest, have heart-shaped gingerbread with a message on it, written in frosting.
The 2nd – 4th grade German students at Hortonville Elementary School experienced a taste of German tradition with a gingerbread decorating party. The students demonstrated their artistic ability with frosting and edible decorations.
These parties could not be possible without the kindness and generosity of parents, who donated gingerbread cookies, frosting and sprinkles, as well as volunteering their time to help. A sincere DANKE SCHÖN (Thank You Very Much) to the parents who donated supplies and/or volunteered their time.
