Nutrition

 

At the start of each physical education class the students do a 5 component of fitness warm up. Each week the teacher covers a different component of fitness.  The last week of the month is devoted to body composition and nutrition.  During this week students learn about healthy eating by participating in different warm up activities. 

Here is one example of an activity that is taught

Jump Rope Digestion

 

National Standards:

Standard 3:  Participates regularly in physical activity.

Standard 4:  Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.

Standard 5:  Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and              

                       others in physical activity settings.

Standard 6:  Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression,

                       and/or social interaction

Traveling Through the Digestive System

Equipment needed: I use at least 4 stations of these so you would need to multiply this by four.
