PACER Test

The PACER (Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run) is a multistage fitness test run over a 20 meter distance.  The test is progressive in intensity- it is easy at the beginning and gets harder at the end.  The progressive nature of the test provide a built-in warm up and helps students to pace themselves effectively.  The PACER test has healthy fitness zones set for gender and age and the students at Hortonville Middle School's goal is to run.

At Hortonville Middle School we run the PACER test twice a quarter and the students are graded on the number of laps they run and they grade themselves on their perceived exertion.

The physical education teaching staff keeps records for each grade level and posts them in the gym.
