Bachelor Degree: University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, IA
Welcome
Hi, my name is Mrs. Renee Zahn. I have been teaching in the Hortonville School District since 1988. Before teaching in the 5th grade, I taught 3 years in 6th grade with one of those years being in Iowa. I moved to Wisconsin in 1984 and was married in 1985. My husband also went to UNI, and he was from the Seymour area.
Family
I am married to Mark Zahn and have two children Emily and Nick. Emily is 22 and going to NWTC for Dental Assistant. My son Nick is 20 and is going to UW-Milwaukee. He wants to be a chiropractor and only has 6 or 7 more years of college education to go. I guess that means I will be working for quite a few more years! My husband, Mark, is the Activities Director at Seymour. So if you happen to be at high school events in Seymour, you will probably see him running around making sure everything runs smoothly.
Hobbies
I enjoy reading, camping, and walking during my spare time. As you can tell from the photos that are at the bottom of the page, that my family likes to travel. Some of the places we have visited are California, Arizona, Virginia, Washington D.C., Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, Wyoming, Canada, France, and Switzerland.
My Classroom
I thoroughly enjoy working with kids, and I find that every day is a new experience. This job is always challenging and never is it boring! I love to read to my students and hopefully turn them on to some new books and authors along the way. I look forward to working with my students and watching them grow from the beginning to the end of the school year. If you walk down the hallway at GMS, I will be the one with a smile and a quick hello!
Photos
Our family likes to take family vacations each year! In 2010 we went to the Kern River in Sequoia National Park. (These photos were taken BEFORE Mrs. Zahn took a dip in the Class IV rapids! After taking the rapids without the raft and also finding a dead body on the rafting trip, we will be thinking twice about the next rafting trip! The rapids look a whole lot different when you are in them compared to riding them!)
