"Only Practice On The Days You Eat." -- Suzuki
Each student in the GMS Band Program receives one 10 minute individual lesson per week during the school day. They need to bring their instrument, music and grading sheet to each lesson.
Please help them by listening to them practice and verifying the grading sheet before they come to their weekly lesson.

Daily Practice Tips
-
Try to practice 15 minutes every day
-
Find a nice, quiet place to practice with no distractions (No TV, iPod, young family members)
-
Sit on a chair, not on the end of your bed
-
Use a music stand (do not lay music on floor or bed, or prop up on little brother’s back) You can buy one from school for $10
-
Warm-Up (whole notes, lip slurs, buzzing) Practice using your best sound
-
Play through the hard parts of your assignment. Don't waste your time on easy things you can already play.
-
Circle any mistakes that you make!
-
Take difficult pieces apart measure by measure and even note by note if you have to.
-
If you are getting frustrated, put your instrument away and come back to it at a later time. (Do not throw instrument at little brother!)
-
Before you are done practicing for the day, play something you LOVE to play, even if it's not part of the assignment!
