Good art is more than pictures, just as good literature is more than words. In literature: organization, sentence structure, style, and so on can make or break a compelling story. In art, the way the Elements and Principles of Design are integrated can make or break a beautiful drawing.
Student art skills can be improved in part, by incorporating sound design elements into their artwork and vocabulary. Each week in semester one, Art I focuses on a single Element or Principle of Design; I introduce it, classroom art projects incorporate it, and students design art journals to explain and illustrate it.
