Assessments:
The rubric found below details what mastery, near mastery and beginning look like when applied to the Wisconsin Art Standards we follow for art instruction. There are a multitude of overlapping concepts we cover in class, but the assessments are based on the following which we have identified as a “power standard,” or concepts that each student needs to demonstrate understanding of:
Grades K-4:
WI Standard C.4.7 – Develop skills to produce quality art
Under the umbrella of this broad standard, each grade has student learning targets for more specific skills that are built into the projects and classroom group challenges.
Grade 1 learning targets include:
primary colors |

By the end of the school year students should be able to say:
I can identify the primary colors. |
I can use warm & cool colors in my art. |
I can put colors in the right place on a color wheel. |
I can use good coloring techniques to create art. |
I can use lines to make patterns. |
I can cut and tear paper to create art. |
