Welcome to the Kingdom of 2-4th grade A.R.T. (Awesome Radical Thinking)!
The rubric which follows below details what mastery, near mastery and beginning look like when applied to the Wisconsin Art Standards we follow for art instruction. There are a multitude of overlapping concepts we cover in class, but the assessments are based on the following which we have identified as “power standards,” or concepts that each student needs to demonstrate understanding of:
Grades K-4:
WI Standard C.4.7 – Develop skills to produce quality art
Grades 2-4 also cover:
WI Standard C.4.1 – Explore the elements and principles of art
WI Standard H.4.3 – Show differences among colors, shapes, textures and other qualities of objects in their artwork
Under the umbrella of those broad standards, each grade has student learning targets for more specific skills that are built into the projects and classroom group challenges.
