A little about Ms. (Julie) Miller. . .
Education: University of Wisconsin BA - Madison & Green Bay; Chapman College World Campus Afloat International Studies; Silver Lake College, Manitowoc - Art Education & Adaptive Art Certification 2008
Employment Background: Before coming to HASD in 2008, worked at private high school in Appleton in communications & recruitment for 18 years; taught theatre costuming and African art at Renaissance School for the Arts, Appleton; did artist in residence at Johnston Elementary, Appleton, to create a community mural; have created & sold original sterling silver jewelry & graphics at art fairs around the state; do freelance graphic art for marketing agencies & non-profit groups; 2008 - 2015 taught summer school art classes at James Madison Junior High School in Appleton; 2016 - 2018 taught summer school art classes for HASD; 2015 - 2017 taught glass art camps at Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass in Neenah.
Interests: Reading, thrift shopping, costume design, swimming, silversmithing, going to museums, trying new kinds of art, doing things with family & friends, babysitting for my grandsons, and taking my dog Buddy and my "granddogs" to the dog park
Community Involvement: VP of the NE Region for the Wisconsin Art Education Association (WAEA) 2012 - 2018; administrate monthly student art displays at Bergstrom Mahler Museum of Glass in Neenah, WI; member of Fox Cities Educators for the Arts which is based out of the Trout Museum in Appleton; Board of Directors for Wee Love Learning Center, Appleton
