Greenville Elementary School (GES): A PBIS School of Merit
GES was one of 146 schools (out of 2,292 schools total) across the state recognized as a Wisconsin Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) School of Merit in 2012-2013. Wisconsin schools receiving this award have created a more positive environment for students and staff by:
-
Establishing clear expectations for their students and taking active steps in teaching, modeling and reinforcing appropriate behaviors school wide
-
Using behavioral data to improve the behavioral outcomes of students
-
Using tools to self-assess and improve school wide implementation efforts
GES exceeded expectations in various areas, including the below, as the following goals were set…
-
80% of students will receive 0-1 office referral
-
15% of students will receive 2-5 office referrals
-
5% of students will receive 6 or more office referrals
…and the following goals were met!
-
95.4% of students received 0-1 office referral
-
3.7% of students received 2-5 office referrals
-
0.9% of students received 6 or more referrals
We realize there are many students who readily embrace the behavioral expectations established at our school. So many students demonstrate great behaviors each day! We also understand there are other students who need additional help to learn and practice appropriate behaviors. We are here to support these students in positive ways by re-teaching, providing opportunities for practice and guidance, and by reinforcing the importance of making good choices now and into the future.
A PBIS School of Merit banner hangs proudly in the lobby at GES to honor this accomplishment. When you are in the building, come check it out. Together we make a difference.
Congratulations to all GES students, staff and community members who demonstrate and practice being respectful, responsible, honest and caring every day!
