Inside Our Doors
When you enter Greenville Elementary you are welcomed into a warm, inviting, friendly building. You will see students as readers and writers that are actively engaged in their learning. This environment fosters learning through a variety of educational experiences.
The school walls are alive with student art, writings and other reflective works from the content areas of science, social studies and math.
Our dedicated, caring instructional staff works continuously to develop and match instructional approaches and strategies that meet the needs and interests of all students. The Greenville staff is very dedicated to helping students learn and is very giving of their knowledge, time and talents to foster growth in students.
Greenville Elementary offers Art, Music, Guidance, Physical Education and Spanish classes in addition to the respective grade level course of study. Special programming is also offered for students with special needs. Supplemental Reading, Reading Recovery and ELL (English Language Learning) classes are available for students learning English as a Second Language.
Greenville Elementary participates in the Literacy Collaborative professional development framework. The components of this framework are designed to provide a comprehensive, school-wide approach to literacy instruction in the primary grades. The goals are to improve the reading, writing and language skills of elementary age children. Phonics is a strong component of this literacy framework.
Additional services that are offered with support from our valuable parent volunteers and our active Parent Teacher Organization include: student book exchange, school store, reading incentive programs, assemblies, tutoring, reading in the library, and monthly family events. Volunteers also assist with facilitating Junior Great Books sessions and the “United for Reading Success” a program for first graders in need of reading reinforcement.
One of the building goals at Greenville Elementary is to infuse “citizenship attributes” into the school day. The staff is implementing a comprehensive plan to develop self-directed citizenship behaviors in the areas of respect, caring, honesty and responsibility.
The home, community, Parent Teacher Organization, Greenville staff and students are partners in providing a learning atmosphere that views children as unique individuals with specific abilities, needs, talents and a self concept that is best enhanced in a safe, challenging learning environment.
