School Description
Hortonville Middle School was completed and occupied in December of 1994. In 1995 we received the distinction of being a National Blue Ribbon School. In 2008 and 2009 we received the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators' Exemplary Middle School Award. An addition to our building was completed for the 2002-2003 school year. Hortonville Middle School has approximately 475 students in Grades 5-8.
Organized in a “House Concept” or “Schools within a School”, programs include over forty co-curricular programs, two foreign languages, computer education, art, health, physical education, and three music choices: band, chorus and music lab.
Hortonville Middle School features a five hour academic block for reading, language arts, math, social studies and science.
Due to the above awards, dedicated faculty and supportive parents we feel we have a very positive and successful program at Hortonville Middle School.
“Honor Level Discipline” is an incentive program which recognizes students for good behavior. It provides awards for students who make good choices. It also provides consistent and fair consequences for students who make poor choices. We feel this system emphasizes care and respect for oneself and for others as well as promoting good decision making. Our strong character education emphasis results in a strong caring and learning environment for all students. SMART Start, a program that matches a small group of seventh and eighth graders with one adult focuses on building and sustaining positive relationships between and among students and staff.
