Summer Contact Days
The WIAA (WI High School sports governing board) allows us 5 days during the summer where we can coach and be together as a team.  We will be having the five contact days run for an entire week.  The summer contact days are not yet decided upon.  Stay tuned!  The dates will be available some time in April.  The practices will be held from 3:30-5:30pm at the JV field behind Hortonville Elementary School. While the practices are voluntary, I would like anyone interested for going out for soccer during the 2012 season to attend.  You will meet your coaches and be able to get a few touches on the ball as a team. If you are unable to attend, please let me know you are interested in playing once the season starts but are unable to attend the contact days.

Polar Bear Soccer Camp
Each year we host a soccer camp at Greenville Lions’ Park.   It’s a great opportunity for our soccer program to impress on the kids a love for the sport.  We ask that as many soccer players (boys & girls) from the HS program be involved as coaches.  The hours can be put toward your community service hours required for graduation.  The camp will run from Monday through Friday, from 8:00 - 10:30 AM,  July 25-29.  Incoming Freshmen and graduating Seniors are very welcome to participate as coaches.  Players from ages 3 to 13 are invited to participate.  Please register using the registration form.

Pizza Fundraiser 2012
Each year we make homemade pizzas as our fundraiser. It’s been our most successful fundraiser in our continual effort to improve the soccer environment at HHS. The monies raised in the past have gone back into rebuilding the fields and improving equipment. We’re working toward getting fencing around the current JV field with our long term goal to add lights and make that the JV & Varsity field.  The pizza forms will be handed out once practice begins.  The pizza sales will begin after the season starts in March and pizza making will occur in April.  Please check back to see the specific date that the pizzas will be made.

Forms
Any athlete participating in any sport must turn in a series of forms.  These forms must be turned in before an athlete can participate in practices.  These forms include: physical (or alternate), Co-Curricular, Emergency Medical Information and Media Release. The forms are all available off the HHS Soccer website: http://www.hasd.org/schools/hs/hhsactivitiessoccerboys.cfm (lower right hand corner). Return the forms to the Student Services office.  Your coaches are unable to drop the forms off in the office for you. If you do not have your forms in, you will not be allowed to take part in the Tryouts. So please find a day during the summer and take care of all of your forms.

Schedule for the 2012 Soccer Season:
Pre-Season meetings:  There will be a pre-season meeting from 5:00pm-7:00pm for girls interested in playing soccer in 2012 on Sunday, February 19th in the HHS cafeteria.  A parent must also attend this meeting.    The coaches will get contact information from the players, pass out the season schedule, and the AD, will be there also to hand out and collect paperwork that is needed in order to participate in soccer.  We will also discuss some fun soccer events that are planned for the near future!
Middle School Students: Coach Everett will be coming to the middle schools in May 2012.  He will then get contact information and give you the dates of the summer contact days.
Parents of current high school students:  Please attend the pre-season meeting February 19th.  Important dates, coaches contact information, and other soccer related materials will be handed out at the meeting.

The girls 2012 soccer season will begin in March.  There will be a week of Player Run practices. These practices will be run by the Varsity captains and will have a parent there to supervise.   Coaches may be present, but they are unable to actually coach on these days.  The practices begin March 12th and will run from 3:30 – 5:30 in Hortonville Middle school gym. These practices will include a fair amount of cardio along with drills and ball work. Please come to practice in shape and ready to work hard.

"Open gym:"  We are currently having open gyms for girl soccer players at Hortonville Middle School gym on Tuesdays from 7:00-9:00pm.  The open gyms will be available for players to come and bond as a team, learn some skills, and play some games.  This is not mandatory by any means, but is a great opportunity to bring new players in and to mix old players with new players.  The coaches will not run these sessions, but they are supervised by an adult.  If you are a parent and are interested in supervising an open gym, please contact me.

Tryouts will be in March.  There will be two days of tryouts and team selections will be made either after Wednesday’s practice or at the beginning of Thursday’s practice. All girls are expected to attend tryouts. Players missing tryouts will not be allowed to immediately play on Varsity. All practices will run from 3:30 – 5:30.  Practices will continue to go until 5:30 but players who need to catch the activity bus will be allowed to leave at 5 in order to catch the bus.
The season game schedule can be found at the HHS Soccer website: http://www.hasd.org/schools/hs/hhsactivitiessoccerboys.cfm (lower right hand corner).  The schedules can change due to weather and other teams needing to make changes, so please refer to the HASD website often to check for changes.

Uniforms
Both Varsity and JV players will receive a home and away jersey, shorts, warm up top & bottom and a bag, which are returned at the end of the season. Players are responsible for purchasing their own socks. Both a white and a red pair are required (the needed socks will be explained when the season begins).  There will be an order form passed out to players once the teams have been decided.  The mandatory socks will be on that order form, as well as extra items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, and Hortonville Soccer attire that players and families will be able to order if they wish.

Comment from the coach:  2011 was a great season for Hortonville Girls' Soccer!  We achieved our best record to date, and we had a lot of fun during the season.  Each player worked really hard to get to where we are now, and all the hard work has paid off!  Winning the Little Chute Invitational was a definite highlight for the team.  I am looking forward to another excellent soccer season ahead in 2012!
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or need any clarification.  Thank you for checking out the website and come back to it often as updates are always being made.

Paul Everett
