Greenville business, The Barbers’ Chair, participates in Adopt a GMS Staff Member community outreach initiative
Local Greenville business, The Barbers’ Chair, was among one of the first to jump onto the opportunity to participate in The Adopt a Greenville Middle School staff member community outreach initiative. The mission behind the program is to highlight skill sets and contributions of members from Greenville and Hortonville communities into the classroom. Additionally, staff members are “adopted” and shown gratitude throughout the year. The Barbers’ Chair eagerly took GMS choir teacher, Mrs. Frato, and her students under their wing and kicked off the program by sending Mrs. Frato a gift certificate and a Thank-You card. Shortly after, manager, Jessica Macdonald, and Stylist, Heather Heide, visited the choir classes throughout the day with gifts of free products and combs for each of the students. When visiting the classrooms, they shared the importance of communication, organization, and interpersonal skills needed to be successful in running a business. “It was a good learning experience reaching out to the Greenville Middle School students as we shared our skill sets and community contributions with the classes”, stated Heather Heide.
Along with The Barbers’ Chair, several other local businesses such as the YMCA and Karate America have joined in The Adopt a Staff Member. If interested in learning more about this initiative, please contact Michelle Johnson at michellejohnson@hasd.org.
