Objective: What is the molar mass of the liquid inside of lighters?
When the liquid is released out of the lighter it boils out of the end of the lighter. The only reason the liquid in a lighter is actually a liquid is the pressure it is subjected to inside of the container. As it gets released it converts to a gas. You will be collecting this gas over water in attempt to determine the molar mass of this gas.
Possible unknowns
Methane: CH4
Ethane: C2H6
Propane C3H8
Butane C4H10
Isobutane: Commonly used in camping stoves C4H10
Pentane: C5H12
