There is really no way to stop them. If you put a shield on the tires they would shoot from the front of the tires, where you could not put any protection without damaging the steering. If you put cameras on the tire area, they get caught. So what? It's the parents who pay the price. The point is they're kids. They're young. They're creative. They're rebellious. They will always keep shooting no matter what. |

I think that you might be able to find a solution, but there's no point. The kids will just find a new way to damage the trucks. If I were mayor, I would take a step back and re-examine the situation, at which point I would realize that the kids must have something that makes them risk getting in trouble just to shoot truck tires. I think if the mayor in the story would realize that, this story would have a whole different plot. |

Actually I think that it would be impossible to stop kids from doing stuff like this and preventing further damage. My grandpa had a squirrel that was tearing apart his bird feeder. He then decided to try to stop the pest by using thicker material on the outside. Unfourtunately, the squirrel squeezed inside the small holeand got food that way. It is impossible to stop it and prevent anything completely without violence and threats which is not the right way to handle things. |

i agree with isabelle 100% it would be a little extra money but its better than buying a whole entire new tire. and it would make the tire shooting hopefully stop and when the shootings would stop , they could take the protection off and get back to the normal tires. (IM NOT ON THE TRUCKS SIDE)

I think the idea of protection of the tires is a good idea. If you think about it, it would not be too pricey because they would have to pay money for new tires if they didn't use the protection. |

I would put a camera on the tires or the bottom of the truck so I could see when someone is messing with the trucks. That way I would know exactly who shot a pea-shooter at the tires. It may not be cost effective, but it would do the job. |

I probably would have the parents pay the fine or I would give the kids a warning kind of like how teachers do it. The next time the kid would pop a tire the parents would be notified. It's really funny how no one saw the kids popping the tires! There are lots of people on the streets! |

I'm not really sure what I'd do. This is set back when parents didn't really have to watch over every single thing their kids did, like they do now, because the world was safer back then. Parents would have no idea this was going on so they couldn't do anything about it. Mati's idea with the protection would be smart, but very pricey and time consuming. The kids can't really go to jail for it because they don't even see what they are doing wrong. They just think they are having fun and doing what they want. Back then, kids really did do what they wanted, and this probably wouldn't have even been seen as a crime. Nowdays, parents would get fines and kids might go to juvy, but back then nothing would happen and they'd get away with a little peashooting fun. |

I would make some sort of shield type thing to cover the wheels on the trucks so that the only part not covered is the part of the tire touching the ground. It may be pricey, but you gotta do what you gotta do. |

I think I would have the parents pay the fines for not supervising their children the way they should but I think somone should be punished for the flat tires anyways. |

actually you would have to know how old the kids are because some kids could go to juvy but the others that can not go to juvy fine their parents and hopefully the parents would take care of the situation. Because if they are to young to go to juvy then i am sure that their parents would be able to talk some sense in to them. |

Hi!I was thinking about what I would do to stop the children that used the pea shooters from shooting the truck tires if I were the mayor. I honestly have no idea what I would do, since it's not like you can put kids in jail! I thought that maybe I would fine people seen shooting peas, but first of all, the kids would find a way of doing it when someone wasn't looking. Also, it wouldn't be the kids paying the fine, it would be the parents. The parents might not even know their child had a pea shooter. So... what would you do? |
