Late/Absent Work
Students are aware of the policy concerning late and missing work. It is important to question your child periodically, and check with me to check up on work habits. E-mail is a great tool and the quickest way to get a response. Please feel free to e-mail me.
Late assignments:
Students are given ample time in class to begin working on their assignments and ask questions about assignments given. Most students will complete their assignments within the class time given. Students are expected to turn in their assignments on time. If a child continues to turn in late assignments they will be required to use their time to complete missing work. This may occur during lunch, or after school. This may seem strict; however, ample time is given to students during class and outside of class to complete all daily assignments and projects.
Students may hand in late work anytime throughout the quarter, but it will not be helpful if this occurs after the assessment has been given.
Absent Work:
Absent work is the student’s responsibility. When students return from an absence they should ask about what they missed in class and what the assignment was. They should ask their group leader first. If the information they get is incomplete or does not make sense it is your child’s responsibility to clarify, or to ask me. Obviously, a student often has to not only make up things missed, but also work on completing current assignments that are given. A reasonable amount of time will be given to complete work. If a large project is due the day your child is absent it will be due the day they return. Please realize a reasonable amount of time will need to be given for me to grade absent work.
I want to see students become active in their learning and to become responsible people.
