All About Me
I have been teaching for twenty-nine years. I was employed as a substitute teacher in Madison and Oshkosh. My first job was part-time at Omro High School where I taught Remedial Reading, Freshman English, and Composition I. In 1992, I was hired at Hortonville Middle School as a 7th grade reading teacher. I have since taught reading/language blocks at the 7th grade level, alternative education at the 7th and 8th grade levels, Read 180 at the 7th and 8th grade levels, and social studies and language at the eighth grade level. At the end of the 2013-2014 school year, I was hired as a sixth grade reading, language, and social studies teacher. I have moved back to the seventh grade to complete the circle; I am teaching 7th grade literacy and math this 2018-19 school year.
I earned my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and my Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction at UW-Madison. I hold the following certifications: Elementary Education (K-8), Reading Teacher (preK-12), English (7-12), and Alternative Education (7-12). This fall I am returning to school to continue with my dreams to become an AODA counselor, an interest that was spurred with SAP training at the beginning of my teaching career.
On a personal note, I am married and have one son. Watching my son grow up has taught me much about middle school children and children in general. I enjoy scrap booking and have dabbled in many different crafts. I also enjoy reading and writing, and I have written a few children's stories. I have also been working on a novelette for the last ten years. It is my goal to finish the draft by the end of this school year.
