Background Information: My name is Shannon Everett. I am a native of Green Bay and graduated from Notre Dame Academy. I attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and earned a Bachelor degree in Human Services. My first job was at the Boys and Girls Club in Oshkosh. Working there helped me realize I wanted to pursue a degree in Education. I went back to college, earned a teaching degree, and a Master’s degree in Special Education. I have been teaching in Hortonville since 2001 and feel fortunate to have a job that I truly love!
I enjoy judging Forensics and Debate for Hortonville during the school year. I also enjoy supervising many school events throughout the school year.
I am an avid Hortonville soccer supporter, and you can find me cheering on the boys' JV and Varsity soccer teams in the fall. I am a manager of both teams and am proud to hold the title of the program's "Number One Fan!" My husband Paul has coached boys' soccer for Hortonville since 2008.

PBIS/Classroom Expectations:
I strive to help each student I work with learn and behave in the Polar Bear Way. I use the same matrix as the 5th-8th grade teachers and also teach the PBIS expectations. I focus on the positive behaviors of being honest, exceeding expectations, accepting responsibility, and respecting others. I reward students who follow the Polar Bear Way with verbal praise, Positive Office Referrals, and Bear Bucks. I re-teach and encourage students when he/she does not follow the Polar Bear Way. I continually work to create a positive environment within my classroom.
Grading Procedure: The grade for Language!Live goes into Skyward as a Pass (P) or Fail (F). The program allows students to re-set any assignment or assessment that receives below a 70%, so a failure really isn't an option. I focus on skill attainment in my classroom. If a lesson I have taught is not understood or acquired, I re-teach and re-assess progress. If a student is struggling with a certain concept, I will work with the individual student until the skill has been acquired.
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments. The part I enjoy most about my job (other than teaching kids) is that I can form solid connections with parents. I am always here to help in any way I can! Here's to a great 2018-2019 school year!
