Personal
I am a proud Wisconsinite! I was born and raised in Eau Claire, and I graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a comprehensive major in Secondary English Education in 2010. My husband found me on MySpace in 2005, and the rest is history! We got married in Eau Claire and moved to Appleton with our two cats (Yoshi and Bowser) in 2013, bought a house in 2014, and welcomed our Brittany Spaniel (Zora) in 2015. I come from a large family due to my mom having 10 siblings, and most of my free time is spent visiting with them. We also enjoy relaxing and recreating at our family cabin on Lake Flambeau in Tony. My husband and I have a passion project with my brother-in-law in Green Bay: We bought a house near the stadium, renovated it from top-to-bottom, decked it out with Packer decor, and now we use it as a rental/recreational property. In addition to being diehard Packer fans, we also love to cheer on the Badgers, Brewers, and Bucks!
Professional
I am currently teaching English 9 and 10, and I am also a Forensics coach. This is my 4th year at HHS, but it is my 9th year of teaching overall. Prior to coming here, I taught English 8, 9, and 10 at Weyauwega-Fremont for two years. Before that, I taught English 9, AP Language Composition, Reading Strategies, and middle school electives in the Stanley-Boyd School District over the course of three years; I also served the Stanley-Boyd community as an AmeriCorps member for two years as their Intervention Specialist and Service Learning Coordinator. Until I graduated from UWEC, I worked for eight years as an administrative assistant for an Eau Claire law firm (in addition to few other jobs that are worth a good story here and there). Life has blessed me with an abundance of professional learning opportunities that I continue to use every day. As an educator, I believe it is my job to show students how to use their reading, writing, and communication skills to be successful in all aspects of life.
