Find out about Mrs. De Guelle!
Hi everyone!
I am the K-2 Literacy Coordinator and Reading Recovery Interventionist for Hortonville Elementary.
As a K-2 Literacy coach, I coach and train teachers in all areas of literacy. I am part of a team of coaches at HASD that plans professional development for the HASD K-5 staff around the Literacy Collaborative instructional framework. Literacy coaches provide both professional development and classroom support for teachers. We meet weekly with our teachers in professional learning communities and provides professional development both during and after school hours. The literacy coach also pushes into classrooms and helps reflect and refine each teacher’s literacy instruction.
As a Reading Recovery Teacher, I work with first grade students providing extensive one on one literacy intervention. I am part of a larger educational community within the Valley Area Reading Recovery Consortium.
I have been learning as a teacher for 30 years! Over the years I have taught Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 8th grade and K-3 literacy intervention. Hortonville Elementary has been my home for over 25+ years.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree with an emphasis on early education. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a Masters Degree in Reading. I have also received extensive training at The Ohio State University and Lesley University for the K-2 Literacy Coordinator position. I have a certification for the Reading Recovery position.
My husband Thomas and I live in the Hortonville School District and have three adult children, Megan, Luke and Tucker.
