I love being a teacher because my joy is supporting our young learners in realizing their capabilities, opening their minds to all of life's possibilities, and instilling in them a love of life-long learning.
My focus each day as I step into the classroom is developing the whole child, and fostering responsible learners who demonstrate creativity, independence, and build confidence through positive, peaceful school experiences. My hope each day is to make each child who enters our classroom feel safe and special. I feel privileged to teach your child and truly enjoy the opportunity of helping you do your most important work - caring for your child.
My Teaching Biography
I've been teaching for 19 years in all grades ranging from kindergarten to fourth grade, in addition to being a reading and writing interventionist for k-2. I received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh and a graduate degree from University of Colorado in Boulder in Curriculum & Instruction with a Reading Endorsement. This is my 7th year at North Greenville!
Reading, writing and math workshops are at the heart of the learning that takes place every day. I also strive to weave technology into our curriculum and work hard to make learning purposeful, authentic and applicable to the real world. I enjoy incorporating elements of my own studies, travels, and life experiences into the classroom, as well as getting to know children through independent projects involving their own interests and experiences.
