Hortonville High School Activities fall under two categories: school-sponsored activities and school-recognized activities, and we're proud that nearly 90% of our student body participates in one ore more co-curricular activity. For motivated students who are interested in competing at Regional and State help competitions. Meetings are scheduled one night a week beginning the end of October through early April. All artwork is prompted by a theme that changes annually. it is a team event that includes individual art making, art history quiz bowl, and critical thinking. Hortonville High School attends the UW-Stevens Point Regional and State event in Madison. Details can be found online by searching Visual Arts Classic (VAC).

Bowling Club offers students a fun and social way to enjoy the sport of bowling while developing their skills. Members practice regularly and may participate in local competitions or recreational outings. It's a great way to stay active, meet new friends, and be part of a supportive team.

Debate team members sharpen their public speaking, critical thinking, and argumentation skills through structured competitions. Students learn to build persuasive cases and respectfully engage with opposing viewpoints. It's a great fit for those who enjoy advocacy, logic, and civil discourse.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. Students apply business knowledge in real-world competitions, build leadership skills, and connect with a national network of professionals. DECA fosters confidence, creativity, and career readiness.

Forensics is a competitive speech and acting category that offers all sorts of opportunities for students to improve their public speaking skills. There are about 18 categories to compete in, ranging from categories that focus on acting and interpretation of literature to speech and writing and presenting. The season starts with practices beginning in November, then competitions occur on Saturdays from the middle of January through March, with a culminating State Competition in April. Select years there may also be an opportunity to compete in the National Qualifying Tournament.

Link Crew is a mentorship program where upperclassmen help freshmen transition to high school life. Crew Leaders build relationships, lead orientation events, and foster a welcoming environment throughout the school year. This program cultivates leadership and a strong sense of community.

Powerlifting is designed for students who want to build strength, improve technique, and challenge themselves through the sport of competitive lifting. Members focus on the core lifts—squat, bench press, and deadlift—while learning about safe training practices and personal goal setting. Youth in Government (YIG) is a hands on civic learning program where students in grades 7-12 become state legislators, lawyers, justices, media, or cabinet members and spend three days running a model government in the Wisconsin State Capitol.
Student Learning Objectives:

- Learn to organize their ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Meet students from different racial, cultural, economic and political backgrounds.
- Build self-confidence and improve public speaking skills.
- Gain skills that set them apart in job interviews and on college applications.

Archery Club introduces students to the sport of target archery in a safe and supportive setting. Members learn proper technique, compete in meets, and develop focus and discipline. No experience is necessary to join—just a steady hand and a willingness to learn.

The purpose of Culinary Club is to provide an environment for students to socialize, be creative, learn cooking skills, and have fun. Culinary Club students prepare food and enjoy eating the results. The club is open to any student at Hortonville High School. It's helpful if the student has taken a foods class, but students are encouraged to join or enroll in a food class if they have not had an opportunity to do so. The Culinary Arts 2 students are encouraged to participate and help lead the cooking activities.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is a student-led club where students encourage each other to grow in their faith while enjoying fun activities together. FCA excels at supporting Hortonville High School Students in the Sources of Strength values of Spirituality, Healthy Activities, and Positive Friends. Students meet weekly at 7:00am on Thursdays in the Old Gym (D159). No sign up is necessary and students do not need to be part of an athletic team to participate at FCA!

The Fishing Team gives students a chance to compete in bass fishing tournaments while building skills in outdoor sportsmanship and teamwork. Members learn strategy, conservation practices, and enjoy time on the water. It’s a fun and rewarding way to connect with nature.

Game Club is for any student who likes to play video games, board games, and/or card games. Students can join at any time throughout the year. We have a Playstation 3, a Wii, two computers, and some board games available. Students may also bring in their own games or game systems. Video games should be rated “E” for Everyone.

SWAP (Students with a Purpose)
SWAP stands for Students With A Purpose and membership is open to 11th and 12th grade students interested in advancing their leadership skills. Our mission is to be part of the school community that ensures that every student learns at the highest level. SWAP's goals are encouraging respectful behavior, helping to educate our district's students, and leading by example. Membership will afford opportunities to serve on Principal's Council, Superintendent's Council, and the Sources of Strength Peer Leader Team. Yearly activities include bi-monthly meetings, team-building activities, the SWAP volleyball tournament, and visits to both middle schools about prevention and high school activities.
