Water! It is a large part of who we are! We are made of approximately 60-70% water. Our brains contain about 80-85% water. Our bodies need water! If we become dehydrated it can cause headaches, and memory difficulties. It is very important to stay hydrated and because of this I do allow water in the classroom. Water bottles from home are great. We do not have a water fountain in our classroom and when your child needs to leave to get a drink they are often missing instruction. The office asks that all water bottles be clear. Water with anything added is not allowed. Other beverages are not allowed.
Food is not to be eaten in class with a couple of exceptions. If your child eats breakfast at school and arrives to late to finish breakfast before class starts they may finish eating in the classroom. They will need to finish quickly and be ready to begin no later than 8:10. I will allow students to bring along a healthy snack which they may eat during 3rd hour if they cannot make it through the day. Due to the large number of student with food allergies please do not send things that include nuts, or honey.
Students may not bring in any type of food to share. This includes food related birthday treats, food related treats for any holidays and food related treats for any celebrations. This is a school board policy.
