The enrollment window for Fox West Academy for the 2025-26 school year coincides with the Wisconsin Public School Open Enrollment, which begins on Monday, February 3, and ends on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 4 p.m. for all students interested in applying to Fox West Academy, regardless of where they live. If you are submitting an application to attend Fox West Academy and do not currently live within the Hortonville Area School District boundaries, you must go through the open enrollment process prior to April 30, 2025 to be eligible to attend Fox West Academy.
In the event that Fox West Academy receives more valid student applications than positions available for enrollment during the application window, a lottery will be held (as required by Wisconsin state law) within 2 weeks after the enrollment window closes to determine which students will be eligible to attend Fox West Academy (specific date and time to be determined). Applicants will be notified of their enrollment or waitlist status on or before the next day following the enrollment lottery.
Please contact us directly regarding questions about application deadlines and procedures.
The following requirements, exemptions and/or exceptions apply regarding the enrollment and lottery process, as defined in the charter contract approved by the Fox West Academy Governance Council and the Hortonville Area School District Board of Education on January 10th, 2011:
Student Admission Requirements
Any student wishing to attend Fox West Academy (FWA) may make application according to timelines published. It is highly encouraged that interested families attend one of the informational sessions provided or speak with a Fox West Academy advisor prior to the determined deadlines. Online applications are available on the FWA website. If the number of persons seeking admission exceeds the capacity of the open seats available, then a random selection lottery shall be conducted by the Governance Council to select the individuals who will be assigned the open seats. To be eligible for admission through this lottery-placement process, individuals must have submitted complete and valid enrollment applications by the end of the established registration window. Application procedures and lottery explanations shall be posted on the FWA’s website once applications are made available. Exemptions from the lottery shall be granted to students currently attending FWA, siblings of students currently attending FWA, and children of the founding members of FWA. Founding members include original staff, initial Governance Council members, and initial Committee Chairpersons involved in the planning phase and first year of the charter contract.
The Charter School will not be required to admit any student who is under a current expulsion order from a school district. Students cannot be placed at FWA by Board of Administration of HASD.
In the event that a student chooses not to enroll, leaves, or declines continued enrollment at Fox West Academy, the open position (regardless of the grade level of the exiting student) will be reallocated to the grade level with the greatest number of remaining openings for the expressed ultimate goal of attaining and maintaining class numbers of 20 students in 6th grade and 20 students per grade level for 7th and 8th grade for a school total not to exceed 62 students. If two grade levels have equal numbers of openings the next remaining available positions will be offered alternately to the two grade levels - starting with the lower grade. As openings occur, students on the wait list will be contacted according to their order on the wait list for the specified grade.
If there are fewer applicants than available positions for a specific grade, the available positions will be offered to the grade level that has the greatest number of unfilled openings. IF the two remaining grade levels have the same number of unfilled openings, the next remaining available positions will be offered alternately to the two grade levels - starting with the lower grade.
