What stood out to you most in the article and why?The fact that education continues to evolve and we as educators must be willing to evolve as well. 2. How do you see blended learning activities as part of your classroom (things you may already be doing) or as becoming part of your classroom in the future? In the past several years I have used a combination of text/on-line learning/and periodical articles to examine particular events in our history class. These learning experiences will continue and grow as more computers become available to our students. 3. Think about a specific lesson that you usually teach in a more "traditional" way. How might you be able to take a more blended approach to that lesson? If you'd like, start playing around with ideas for that lesson. A particular lesson that I have taught in the past involved the discovery of a natural mummy in the European Alps on the border of Italy and Austria. I read a "National Geographic" article that discussed recent discoveries that suggested that this ancient man was murdered. Using a combination of film, the "National Geographic" web site, and existing articles we will compare the evolution of knowledge in this case based on new technological examination of the "Ice Man".
The thing that stood out most to me is the fact that a "Blended" activies approach to existing lessons should benefit myself as well as all of the students in my five sections. Communication between members of various project groups can take place via PBworks and Wiki pages. My ability to momitor and direct students will keep everyone informed and if need be corrections can be made to stay on track.
Blended Learning activities will be implemented early this school yeat through my "Mummy" project. A more "Blended" Approach will involve increased use of computer research for information as well as the use of Wiki space for group members to communicate. Communication is vital to the success of the project because group members must be responsible for bringing in materials for the completion of the mummy. The Wiki page engages students to post materials obtained as well as those that need to be obtained and brought in.
