This newsletter will be posted on my website weekly. Listed beneath each topic are the “I Can” statements we use in class to encourage student learning throughout the week.
Classroom Calendar/Updates
- Please make sure to check your child’s home folder every night. This has work your child has completed throughout the day inside to keep you informed!
- Please continue to check your child’s clip chart calendar, this is my way of communicating your child’s behavior with you. In the case that you have any questions- please contact me.
- Library day is Wednesday of each week!
- Please make sure you are reading with your child every night. Stopping every couple of pages to check for understanding is important!
- Please continue working on the high frequency words with your child at home! Remember, they should be able to read and write all 100 words by the end of first grade!
- Don't forget to continue to practice math flash cards with your child nightly! (Addition and Subtraction!)

Word Work
I can make words that start with consonant blends and diagraphs (fr, gr, th, sh, ch, bl, br, cl, cr)
Reading
I can add to my thinking as I read a book and know that my thinking changes.
Math
I can identify and sort plane shapes and tell their properties.
I can combine plane shapes to make different shapes.
I can name geometric solids and recognize them in my classroom.
I can count the number of flat sides and vertices. .
Science
I can observe the sun, moon and stars and decide and predict their patterns
I can tell where the sun rises and sets.
I can add and subtract numbers within 20.
Writing
I can plan my small moment narrative.
I can create a strong ending for my story.
I can write a small moment narrative.
