Student Survival Tips for Starting at a
New Middle School
Middle School is a great opportunity to meet new people and to begin to explore what you want to do with the rest of your life. Don't be afraid to ask teachers, counselors or staff at you school for help.
- Get and stay organized.
- Use your planner.
- Keep track of assignments and due dates.
- Keep your desk, locker and back pack cleaned out.
- Do your homework.
- Schedule your time wisely. Take time at night to do homework and study.
- Talk to your Teachers.
- Ask questions. If you are unsure about an assignment or what you need to be doing, just ask.
- Get involved in extra-curricular activities.
- Find things you enjoy-sports, clubs, activities and get involved. This is a great way to meet new people and to have fun.
- Set high expectations for yourself.
- Turn in homework in on time, ask questions and take advantage of your afterschool help.
- Talk to your parents and keep them informed of what is going on with you in school.
- Find an adult you trust to talk with when you have problems.
- Chose your friends wisely.
- Come to school and have fun!
