Positive consequences
|
- Quietly come into the classroom, login, and start on TypingPal. You will type for the first ten minutes of class. There is no talking during TypingPal so you can concentrate.
- When Mrs. Jensen says “minimize”, you must minimize all windows, hands off keyboards/mice, and eyes up front (there should be no clicking). This will help you to focus on what I am saying and will cause less confusion.
- Assignments must be turned in on-time and with full effort. Putting in effort in all of your classes is an important habit to get into.
- Each day, you will be checking your grades online. Here, you will see your scores and assignment feedback. This will help you in future assignments.
- If you need help during work time, put your flag up. This way you can keep working while I am helping other students.
- If you hear the “bell”, that means voices off and attention up front. This is so Mrs. Jensen can tell you important information, or we may change activities.
- You will only be allowed to use the restroom during work time so you can get all of your TypingPal time in and you hear the lesson. One boy and one girl at a time. Put your nametag up on the board so we know you are out.
- With about one minute left in class, you will be asked to restart your computer and sanitize your workstation. This is so we keep things clean and prepare the computer for the next class.
- Stay at your desk until Mrs. Jensen says it is time to leave so everyone is not gathered at the door.
|
- Each day, the class will start with five tallies. This is equal to five minutes of free time at the end of class each day. If all procedures and rules are followed, you get all five minutes. Tallies will be taken down as Mrs. Jensen has to give reminders to follow rules/procedures.
- If no tallies are taken down, a marble is added to your class’s jar. Once the bottom of the jar is covered, you earn a full free day.
- If you did not receive any warnings all week, you may choose a small prize on Fridays (sticker or eraser).
- Verbal praise and emails home will be sent for consistent good behavior.

Crisis Plan
|
- If rules/procedures are not followed, Mrs. Jensen will take down a tally and tell the class why, so they are able to correct it.
- If a tally must be taken down, no marble is earned.
- Mrs. Jensen may ask you to move seats if you are continually talking to your neighbor.
- If you are getting very frustrated and it is escalating, Mrs. Jensen may ask you to take a break outside of the classroom.
- If you are struggling individually, you will be given a warning (written on a post-it) so you understand why you are getting a warning. Mrs. Jensen may also pull you into the hallway to understand if there is an issue she can help with.
- If three warnings are given, it results in a minor, call home, and you will be sent to the office during free time.
- If behaviors are corrected, you have the opportunity have a warning removed.
- If behaviors are continuing after three warnings, you may be sent to the office and/or Mr. Lawrence/Mrs. Powell will be contacted. This results in a major.
|
- If there is out-of-control behavior (physical aggression, etc.), other students will be asked to leave the classroom and wait in the hallway.
- Mrs. Jensen will ask one student to go to a nearby classroom to get additional adult help so she can stay in the classroom.
- Mrs. Jensen will then call the office for admin to come and assist.
- Once the behavior is addressed, we will talk as a class and address concerns, what went well, and what didn’t
- After emotions have de-escalated, we will also talk with the student who had the behavior to understand what happened. We will work to re-establish trust.
