1. class standing of junior or senior
2. enrollment at Hortonville High School for a minimum of one semester
3. scholastic achievement of a 3.5 cumulative grade point average
a. If these two criteria are met, a formal invitation will be sent in September.
4. student application to the society
a. the application should be complete, neatly done in ink, and signed
b. The application should also include the essay which is neatly done in a formal essay style, using what the student knows about good writing.
c. The application needs to be submitted on time to the NHS advisor.
5. staff recommendation based on demonstrated qualities of
a. leadership
b. character
a. these are procurred by the society advisor, not the student
6. majority vote of a five member faculty council
After the process has been completed, a letter will be sent to the applicants, either acknowledging acceptance or providing information on the appeal process.
An induction ceremony is held in the fall. Invitations are sent via mail to the student and his/her guardian.
