HMS Vision Statement
Hortonville Middle School is a safe environment where staff, students, and families work together at high levels through challenging curriculum, common standards, and innovative technology. Teachers model clearly defined expectations that focus on lifelong learning, responsibility, and positive citizenship in a community.
The Hortonville Middle School and Fox West Academy PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Leadership Team is proud to announce our next Polar Bear Way goal for the remainder of the third quarter. Each quarter of the school year, a goal has been selected to work on throughout the building. Our first quarter goal was to improve hallway behavior, our second quarter goal was to improve respect and classroom disruptions, and our third quarter goal is as follows:
“I can use all digital devices honestly, respectfully, and responsibly in all school environments and be a good digital citizen.”
Beginning the week of February 23rd, all students will be re-taught what it means to be a good Digital Citizen and our school’s Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) expectations. Please CLICK HERE to review those expectations with your middle school student. After reviewing expectations here at school, all students will take a brief formative assessment, which will test their knowledge of our school’s expectations. As soon as students pass this brief and relatively easy assessment, all students will receive what we are calling a ‘Digital Driver’s License’. Students will be required to carry their license with them if they wish to use digital devices at school.
For more information about our next Polar Bear Way goal, you are encouraged to watch the following PowToon video, which students are also watching in classes this week.
it is an especially auspicious year to celebrate Pi.

34 million Americans have Irish ancestry, according to the 2003 US Census. That’s almost nine times the population of Ireland, which has 4.1 million people.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the highest number of leaves found on a clover is 14.
Though green is a very popular color on St. Patrick's Day, the original color that was very popular and often related back to St. Patrick was not green, but BLUE!
