Dear HASD Families,
In recent weeks, a COVID test called an antigen test has become available through local health organizations. This rapid antigen test can produce results in 15 minutes or less, however, can be less accurate and give a higher probability of “false-negatives.” With guidance from Outagamie County Public Health and Department of Health Services, HASD will not be accepting negative antigen tests to allow students return to school who have symptoms per our District Symptom Checker. Further information from DHS on antigen testing can be found here.
We will continue to accept negative PCR tests. A PCR test is considered the “gold standard” of COVID-19 testing, and while the results may take longer to receive, the results are highly accurate.
We recognize and understand the inconvenience of these testing requirements. Our goal is to continue to keep our schools open for in-person learning. Our collaboration with local and state public health has led us to this decision and feel it is best to keep our schools healthy and safe.
Thank you for your continued partnership with the Hortonville Area School District.
