With the Fuel Up to Play 60 program, classes are rewarded if they take a healthy break within the school day. Mrs. Jones's science class took a walk and entered into a drawing to get a healthy snack during the next class.
Here we are enjoying a cheese stick!
Thank you Mrs. Kokema for providing this incentive!
In science class, we have many opportunities to demonstrate hands-on experiments. Here we are showing the parts of a wave with a piece of string. We also showed how disturbances in a pan of water made a wave. The study of sound and light waves is fascinating!
During March we celebrate March Madness and Middle School Month. Here we are shooting hoops, and getting a silver clip from the principal and/or vice principal. Being in Grade Six is pretty great!!!!!
The Pep Assembly on February 19th was to celebrate various things. The girls basketball teams, the wrestling team, the raising of over $1000 for a house fire with Pajama Day, and a 3 legged race were among the highlights.
There was a contest amongst the grades including crazy sock participation and a grade level cheer with each grade trying to yell the loudest. (Mr. Palzer recorded the volume with a scientific device!)
The winner of overall points was the seventh grade! Congratulations to them!
Our PTO announced a special spring fund raiser of pizza, popcorn, and cookie dough.
The sixth grade science classes drew posters for the ocean zones. Then they hung them in the halls to allow everyone to see them. It served as a Museum of Oceanography. Thanks to Mrs. Danke and Mrs. Jones for having this project. Here are students standing by the posters showing the depths of the ocean and taking notes.
The sixth grade classes all had Valentine socials in their rooms at help period on Friday, February 12th. How special to have treats of all sorts to enjoy with friends. The following pictures are from the various rooms.
Callie Picuccu, a 3rd grade student at GES had a house fire. The students at GMS raised funds by wearing hats or pajamas on February 10th. They donated at least $2 to support this great cause. How generous our community is at Hortonville! Here the sixth graders show their support.
We had a pep assembly on December 14th. We honored the forensic team, the boys' basketball teams, the Lego League teams, and the retirement of Mrs. Frassetto. Here we are with pictures from the assembly.

A Visit from a School Board Member
Mr. Willard Griesbach came over our lunch hour to visit with our sixth graders. We had sent him letters. He asked us what the school board does and how we think it helps our school. It was very nice to chat with him!
We were awarded money from the NFL for our participation in the Fuel Up to Play 60 Program. In addition, six Green Bay Packer Players came to our school for an assembly and to play active games with the Fuel Up Teams from the different schools. What a pleasure to hear the players talk about keeping fit with good exercise and sensible eating habits! Here are some pictures from the special day, November 17th.
We welcomed Veterans into our classrooms on Veteran's Day, Nov. 11th. The following military honored us:

We went to the Conservation Field Days trip on September 22nd. What fun we had doing science right out in the field! Here we are fishing, checking out a quarry, learning about water and soil, and being with our sixth grade classes.
The first day of school we came in and started our classes. The welcome back pep assembly was exciting and informative. We all look forward to a great year!
