We are reading the book The Pushcart War by Jean Merrill. It contains lots of satire and centers around a conflict between the pushcart peddlers and the truck drivers in New York City. Characters like Frank the Flower, Morris the Florist, Big Moe the truck driver, and General Anna are extremely likeable. The battles that occur lend us to ask the question of how a war really starts, and just how you settle a conflict.
We will be focusing on the figurative language that this trade book has as well as plot and theme about the whole selection.
