The Hortonville Area School District employs more than 650 full- and part-time staff members, making the district the largest employer within the Village of Hortonville. Our District serves as home to National Board Certified teachers, several professional staff members holding advanced-level degrees and more than 300 deemed "Highly Qualified" by the U. S. Substitute Teaching at HASD
Substitute teachers provide a very important role in ensuring student learning when regular classroom teachers are absent from the classroom, and we are regularly in search of qualified professionals to help in our schools and classrooms. Requirements for Substitute Teachers
- Valid Educator License
OR
- Associate degree or higher
- Complete CESA 6 teaching certificate*
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Educator License
- If you're applying for a new educator license, please take a look at this informational video.
- If you're renewing your educator license, the process and additional information can be found on the Wisconsin DPI license renewal page.
*New Certificate Option: If you have a Bachelor's or Associate's degree but do not hold a teaching license/degree, CESA 6 offers training, which allows the applicant to obtain a substitute teaching certificate through DPI.
Substitute Support Staff
Are you looking for a flexible job with the ability to determine your own schedule? Perhaps you would like to make extra money while your kids are in school, and still have your evenings, nights, weekends and holidays free. Substitute support staff consists of educational assistants, food service, and administrative assistants providing substitution services to the district. Substitute support staff play an important role when regular support staff are absent.
Substitute Support Staff work at all levels and all schools:
- Assist teachers in regular education classrooms
- Assist in libraries and lunchrooms
- Assist teachers in special education classrooms (HASD will pay for subs interested in acquiring a Special Education Aide license through DPI)
Requirements for Substitute Support Staff:
