Attendance Matters! Being in school every day supports not only student learning, but connection and engagement, too! We understand, however, that things come up. As a reminder, Students may be excused by a parent/guardian for up to 10 total school days per year for reasons such as hunting, vacation, personal matters, or illness. Absences beyond 10 days require a medical excuse from a licensed health care provider. Unexcused absences over this limit may result in a truancy referral.

Leadership in action at North Greenville Elementary School! Our Principal Advisory Committee, which consists of 24 4th graders, showed off their leadership skills this week by teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade classes about sportsmanship.
These young leaders guided students through different challenges that taught fair play, encouragement, positive talk, and cooperation. The confidence and enthusiasm these 4th graders brought to their first-ever lesson to younger learners was impressive! We have some future teachers here for sure!

Congratulations to our 3rd Quarter 2025 Grode Educational Excellence Grant recipients! These innovative projects will enhance learning experiences for our students across multiple programs.
Laura Johnson, Brad Leeman, and Nicole Eidahl - Cardio Drumming: Combining music and physical education to highlight the powerful connection between rhythm and movement. Using stability balls, muck tubs, and drumsticks, students in grades K-4 will engage in energetic drumming routines that promote cardiovascular fitness, coordination, and teamwork.
John Leja - Digital Mallet Station: A blend of technology and music for high school music courses and co-curriculars. HASD will be one of the first districts in the area to implement this versatile, portable tool, giving students expanded access to sharing their musical talents.
Terressa Leinon, Max Herro, and Dylan Sprague - Omnikin: One ball, endless possibilities! This safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate physical education equipment requires teamwork to control, working on collaboration, communication, and social-emotional learning. It's equipment rarely found in traditional PE programs.
The Grode Educational Excellence Grant, created by long-time Hortonville community members and advocates Rene and Lois Grode, empowers our teachers each quarter to apply for funding that enriches classrooms and provides opportunities for students that aren't otherwise covered within the normal school budget. Their generosity and support help make our district exceptional by enabling learning experiences that enhance engagement and student success. Lois Grode was even on hand to help us deliver the good news and join in the celebrations!
Thank you to all who submitted applications and to the Grode family for their continued commitment to HASD students and educators!

Celebrating 25 years of World Languages in HASD elementary schools!
In 2001, the Hortonville Area School District began offering Spanish language instruction at the elementary level, adding German in 2010. Our commitment to world language education has been recognized with excellence - in 2012, the HASD World Languages Program received the first Donna Clementi Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence in World Language Programs from the Wisconsin Association for World Language Teachers.
Today, we have 13 world language teachers across the district, and 137 students are enrolled in college-level CAPP German or Spanish at Hortonville High School. We're proud to provide students with these exceptional opportunities to become global citizens!
